David Ball’s story of
growth and impact

David first joined our Perth office two years ago as a Support Team member. His attention to detail and unquenchable curiosity have seen him progress to a Senior QA Engineer role. As a QA, he uses his keen eye and analytical mind to test our products for bugs, before they reach our customers. 

David has already experienced more in the early stages of his career than he ever expected. From conducting test cases to collaborating with our developers and support staff to improve our products, he says he’s excited by the variety and opportunity in his role.  

“I ensure our products do what they’re supposed to do, so our customers can have the best user experience possible! I really enjoy problem solving, and in my role, I get to do that every day. Running test cases and following a process checklist for our products is always an exciting challenge – and the results are so worthwhile.”

Always one for thinking ahead, David says working as a Senior QA Engineer has seen him identify areas of tech he wants to pursue. The best part about his job? Knowing his contribution helps us to grow.

David’s curious nature has always guided him through life. It sparked his interest in building computers as a teenager, and it led him to study Commerce and IT degrees. It’s also what drew him to work with us.

“When I was half way through my IT degree, I heard about Linewize and became curious about their services. So I downloaded their app to find out more about the company. I saw so much potential in the product that I applied for a job straight away – even though I hadn’t finished my course! I realised they want to make a difference – and I’m so glad I applied because now I get to make a difference, too!”

David has seen us grow from a startup to an organisation with offices across the globe. He’s thrilled to join us as we continue to expand in the education software market. And in his time with us, David has left his mark on many projects that have directly influenced our growth. 

“Last year we moved our cloud-based services from Amazon to Google. The project took an entire year, and there were moments where my skills and abilities were tested. I was the only QA on the project, and I loved having the responsibility of ensuring none of our products had broken. Seeing the project through to completion was a huge achievement – and it’s already helping us grow and take on more customers. It’s thrilling to know we’re already seeing the benefits of a project I worked on.” 

David’s curiosity has once again been piqued. His latest aspiration is to increase his skills and in the hopes of one day becoming a developer. He believes that by continuing to learn from our talented Developers, he will achieve his goal. 

“The potential to grow professionally here is astounding. It’s an opportunity to be on the cutting edge of technology while helping kids to stay safe. I know that if I worked somewhere like a gambling software company, I would be unfulfilled. I want to complete work that has a meaningful impact on society.”

Throughout his time in our Support and QA departments, David has realised the value of collaboration and teamwork. He admits that when he joined us, he had no Quality Assurance experience – but his team helped him get up to speed. 

Looking back, he acknowledges how far he’s come from his early days. And seeing how far he has already progressed motivates him to keep developing his skills.

“In order to be the best you can be, I believe you must keep learning... but you have to want it. You can’t expect to grow here if you don’t believe in what we are trying to achieve. Working with us not only offers an opportunity to continuously expand your knowledge and skills – it also allows you to make your mark on the world in a really unique way. I can’t think of a better way to carve out a career in tech than here.”
